4. WHAT IS THE AGE LIMIT OR RECOMMENDATION?

There is no age limit which makes Paddle Boarding a great family activity! If some children are too young to paddle on their own, they can easily ride on the front of an adults. Always exercise caution with children and be sure all involved are always wearing a PFD and a leash.

5. HOW DO I INFLATE MY INFLATABLE PADDLE BOARD?

Your Sea Dog Paddle Board ISUP is equipped with one High Pressure Valve. BEFORE inflating your paddle board, you must check to make sure the spring loaded pin is not depressed and locked in the OPEN position. To verify the valve is not open, push the pin down and turn it clockwise. If the pin stays down, you have now OPENED that valve. To close it (and not release all the air you’re going to pump) turn the pin counter clockwise so it springs back up. Now the valve is CLOSED. All inflation is done in the LOCKED/UP position and deflation is done in the OPEN/DOWN position. To attach the pump hose to the High Pressure Valve, use the appropriate nozzles and fittings which are supplied with your Sea Dog Paddle Boards High Pressure Pump. Push the fitting into the valve and turn clockwise to lock it. Inflate the SUP until you reach about 12 to 15 PSI. Inflating with the manual pump should take roughly 5 minutes. After inflation, disconnect the hose from the valve and close the valve with the cap. Please Note: The valve won't be airtight until the valve is closed with the valve cap.

6. HOW LONG WILL MY BOARD STAY INFLATED?

If you are going to keep your board inflated for a longer period of time let out a few pounds of air so that it isn't at max pressure and than just top it up when you want to hit the water.

Many people choose to inflate and deflate their boards each time they go out. That's the beauty of the boards - they inflate and deflate quickly, and they store nicely in your car or garage. It takes about five (5) minutes to fully inflate your board using our high-quality pump. Please note that if you are inflating and deflating the board a lot, the deck pad edges may need a little glue.

Some people deflate their board slightly, folding it in thirds and storing on a shelf in their garage. That way, inflation takes half the time - 2 minutes. This is entirely up to you.

KEEP THE BOARD COOL AT ALL TIMES. Do not leave in direct sunlight, even when using a board bag, on top of your car, or in bubble wrap. Always store your board in a well ventilated area where temperatures do not freeze or exceed 80 degrees.

7. HOW MUCH AIR SHOULD I PUT INTO MY BOARD?

If you do not have a good pump it becomes very difficult to put in enough air into your board. The more air you can put into your board - measured by your pressure gauge - the better.

If your board is not inflated enough it will sag in the middle, making for a miserable day on the water. Or, if you weigh too much it will sag in the middle.

However, with our SUP pumps you'll be able to inflate your board to 15 psi which will give you a stable and fully inflated board.

8. HOW DO I DEFLATE MY BOARD

Once your board and deck pad are completely dry, unscrew the High Pressure Valve insert cap and push down on the yellow valve a few times quickly to release air in a burping manner. This relieves some pressure off the valves. After roughly 5 burps, OPEN the valve cap. Deflation is much more rapid than inflation (approximately 1 minute to deflate).  Next you will need to deflate the board fully by switching the hose on your pump to the "in" side and reattach to your board where you will pump out the remaining air completely deflating the board.  After all the air has been released, turn the valve stem counter clockwise to lock in the UP/CLOSED position and replace the valve cap. This will ensure that the next time you inflate your board the air doesn't release out after your pump it up. Keep the board rolled and place it in the backpack.

9. HOW DO I REPAIR A TEAR?

You can repair small punctures with the included repair kit. Please note that in order for the repair to be successful, the humidity level should be less than 60%, temperature between 65° F/77° F or 18°C/25° C. Avoid carrying out repairs in the rain or in direct sunlight. Perform all repairs in a well ventilated area and avoid inhaling glue vapors, touching or swallowing. Keep all repair materials out of the reach of children.

Draw the shape of the patch exactly where it will be applied, and cut a round patch at least 2” / 5 cm larger than the cut/damaged area. 2. Clean the damaged area and the corresponding side of the patch with an alcohol-based grease remover and allow it to dry for 5 minutes.

Apply 3 thin layers of glue on both the patch and the damaged area, allowing for it to dry for 5 minutes between layers until the glue feels tacky.

When the third layer of glue is dry, apply the patch without pressing and adjust the positioning if required. Press the air bubbles which may have formed under the patch by smoothing the patch with a round object such as a spoon, starting in the center of the patch towards the outside, then clean the excess glue with a solvent.

Drying time: 12 hours.

10. HOW MUCH DOES MY BOARD WEIGH?

Your board weighs about 28 pounds. There are boards that weigh less, but they very likely are not reinforced on both sides. The typical epoxy SUP board weighs 30 to 45 pounds.

11. HOW MUCH CAN I WEIGH?

We've tested the board to a single person weighing 325 pounds. The board must be pumped to 15 psi (our recommended pressure).

12. HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I HAVE ON MY BOARD AT ONE TIME?

You can have as many people as you can fit as long as the total stays under the maximum weight limit of 325 lbs. Kids in particular love to go for rides on the front of the Inflatable Paddle Board

13. WILL THE SUN DAMAGE MY BOARD?

YES. This is true for all boards, both epoxy/hard, soft-tops and inflatables.

The sun will damage most anything left in the sun for prolonged periods of time. In the case of your board, if left out in the sun other than when you are boarding, the sun may fade your deck pad, cause the rails to bubble at the seams (while we have not seen this on our boards, it can happen).

If you've inflated your board and it's just sitting out on the beach, drape a towel over it or put it under some shade.

14. WHY ARE THERE 3 FINS ON MY BOARD AND DO I NEED THE MIDDLE FIN?

The three fins on your SUP board help with stability and turning radius. The removable middle is not needed to use your paddle board; however, it drastically helps keep your board going straight as you paddle. PLEASE NOTE: Shallow water can break your center fin, so be careful when starting your SUP session near shore.

15. WHERE ARE YOUR BOARDS DESIGNED AND MADE?

Our boards are designed in Barrie, Ontario. They are tested in salt and fresh water, on rivers, lakes and oceans.

Our boards are made in China. The material comes primarily from South Korea (they make the best drop-stitch material - which is 90% of your board) and China.

16. PADDLE SIZING

Paddle shafts are designed to be custom for a personal fit. The correct length is very much determined by the use. All measurements are added to the individual paddle boarder's overall height. Add 8"-10" if you are mainly paddling in flat-water with some occasional mild surf use. Add up to 12" for racing or open ocean touring. Add 6"-8" if you spend most of your time in high performance surf and have developed good paddle strength.

Paddle length is a personal thing but from our experience the measurements above work best for MOST people. If unsure, start out longer, as you can always shorten your paddle. A longer shaft puts less strain on your back (but may aggravate shoulder injuries). Most people start out spending more time on flat-water, where a longer paddle works best. As a general rule of thumb, place the paddle on the ground and raise your arm straight overhead (but not overextended), the handle grip should be around your wrist or your palm.

17. WHAT MAINTENANCE DOES MY BOARD NEED?

Your Sea Dog Paddle Board should need little maintenance other than cleaning and ensuring it is dry before you roll it up in the back pack. Check your ISUP after each use. Rinse the board thoroughly with a mild soapy solution making sure to remove any dirt or residues of salt if you used the board in salt water. DO NOT use detergents or any type of silicone or petroleum based cleaning products. Wipe down the board and make sure it is completely dry before putting it away, paying special attention to make sure the valve area is particularly dry.

When your Sea Dog Paddle Board isn't being used we recommend storing it in a covered shaded area to protect against ultraviolet rays to extend the life of the product.

18. HOW DO I STORE MY PADDLE BOARD FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME?

When storing your Sea Dog Paddle Board, keep it in a clean and dry location that is not affected by major variations in temperature and other damaging factors. You may store it deflated and folded up in a bag or assembled and lightly inflated (make sure you don't subject it to deformations). Protect your paddle board from rodents and other undesirables by not storing it on a concrete surface and by placing mothballs around the board to keep mice and insects away.
